Goa: 6 out of11 Congress MLAs meet CM, likely to join BJP

Panaji: The Congress in Goa on Sunday announced that it will remove Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo in the state assembly.
Amidst speculation that some of its MLAs can join the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Goa Congress desk incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao told reporters that conspiracy was hatched by its own leaders to weaken the party by engineering split and defection.
He alleged that the conspiracy was led by Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo and former chief minister Digambar Kamat.
He told reporters in the city that a new LoP would be appointed soon.
Rao also said that the party would take action against the two senior leaders of the party whom he accused of hatching a conspiracy for power.
He said the Congress would go before the people and expose the defectors. The Congress leader pointed out that all the MLAs before assembly elections had signed affidavits and taken oath before God that they would not switch over sides after getting elected.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that some Congress MLAs had come to meet him but he was not aware of them joining the BJP.
The entire day was full of speculations over some Congress MLAs joining the ruling dispensation. Though Congress leaders claimed earlier that the party MLAs were together and BJP was trying to spread rumors. (UNI)
