Gadkari: Gap between haves & have nots widened in India
Nagpur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday asserted that the gap between the rich and the poor has widened in the country and it needs to be bridged.
Gadkari, who was addressing people at an event here on Thursday, said the gap between the rich and the poor has widened in the country and it needs to be bridged.
He further said even though India has emerged as the world’s fifth largest economy and the country is rich, its people are still facing issues like inflation, poverty, unemployment, starvation, casteism and untouchability which are not good for the progress of the society.
He also pointed out that like social disparity, economic disparity has also heightened in the country and added that there is a need to establish social and economic equality in the society to bridge the gap.
Education and health are the main factors that we need to work on, the minister said.
Nevertheless, the biggest challenge before us is how to work in various sectors with social responsibility and social consciousness to bring about a change in society, the senior BJP leader said.
He also said we are very far away from our goal and we need to speed up our efforts towards achieving it.(UNI)
