Fully vaccinated can now board Mumbai locals from Aug 15
Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday announced that people who have received both jabs of the COVID vaccine, can travel by the local trains in Mumbai from August 15.
However, he maintained that a gap of 14 days is mandatory after taking the second shot of the vaccine.
Even though the Chief Minister paved way for the commuters to travel by local trains, yet, warned them of possible risk of a potential third wave.
“We all know that we have not yet fully recovered from the second wave. There is also the risk of a potential third wave. The central government has also repeatedly warned about this. However, in order to continue the economic cycle, we are imposing certain criteria and restrictions to allow ordinary passengers to travel locally,” Mr Thackeray said while interacting on social media.
Passengers who have a smartphone can download the train pass through a mobile app. Passengers who do not have a smartphone can take photo passes from municipal ward offices in the city as well as suburban railway stations.
Most importantly, these passes for local travel will have QR codes so that the railway administration can verify its authenticity.
