FIR against unknown Toolkit makers, not Greta Thunberg
Uploaded Toolkit on Twitter allegedly created by Khalistan supporters
New Delhi, Feb 4 (UNI) The Delhi Police on Thursday evening clarified that a case has been registered against unknowns for making a “toolkit” rather than climate activist Greta Thunberg as reported by a section of media.
“We have not named anyone in the FIR. A case has been registered for making a toolkit to spread disharmony,” Delhi Police Special Commissioner Praveen Ranjan said in a presser here.
The senior police official said that the case has been registered under section 124A (sedition), 153 (intent to cause riot), 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy).
He said Delhi police is monitoring several social media accounts and have identified more than 300 accounts which have been used for pushing hateful and malicious content.
Mr Ranjan said the toolkit uploaded on Twitter was allegedly created by Khalistan supporters.
Earlier in the day, it was reported by many news broadcasters that 18-year-old Thunberg had been booked by the Delhi police.
“We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India,” Ms Thunberg wrote and shared CNN report over internet services being suspended at protest sites.
She also shared a toolkit but later deleted it. The climate activist then shared a new toolkit over farmers’ protest in India.
As the news of FIR being registered spread, Ms Thunberg said she still supports farmers’ protest.
“I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that,” the climate activist tweeted.
Tens of thousands of farmers have been protesting at Delhi borders against the newly enacted farm laws which they call as anti-farmer and pro-corporate.
