Fake DSP Arrested in Panipat Living Lavish Life
12th-pass man posed as police officer; stayed free in luxury hotels, used siren car with liquor stash…..
Haryana : Police have arrested a man in Panipat who had been masquerading as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and living a life of luxury by deceiving people with his fake identity. Shockingly, the accused, who is just a 12th-pass individual, managed to fool the public and even hotel staff for several months with his high-level police impersonation.
Identified as Rahul Sharma (name changed), the man was caught when his suspicious behavior and excessive demands at a high-end hotel raised alarms. On verification, police discovered that he had no official records in any law enforcement agency and was using a fake police ID card, uniform, and even a government style vehicle fitted with a siren. According to Panipat police officials, Rahul used to check into expensive hotels across Haryana and Delhi NCR claiming to be on secret duty. He would often stay without paying bills and threaten hotel staff with suspension or legal action if they questioned him. When police searched his white SUV, they recovered bottles of expensive imported liquor, fake identity cards, a walkie-talkie, and even official police files printed with forged stamps. The vehicle had a VIP number plate, police logo, and a working siren clearly designed to imitate a real police escort car.
Investigations revealed that the accused also used his fake identity to gain free entry into clubs, events, and even sought escort services under the guise of conducting raids. He would often upload social media posts showing him in a police uniform to gain further credibility among his contacts. Police officials believe the man had been operating this racket for over a year, taking full advantage of the public’s trust in law enforcement. He is now facing charges under multiple IPC sections including impersonating a public servant, fraud, and forgery.
Panipat SP said in a press statement, It is a serious offense and we are also verifying whether he had any links to criminal networks or used his disguise for more serious crimes. The case has raised concerns about identity verification processes and how easily one can misuse police insignia and titles for personal gain.
