Fadnavis: Shiv Sena should be ashamed to take Savarkar’s name
Thane, Dec 3 (UNI) BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis lashed at the Shiv Sena, saying that the party should be ashamed to take V D Savarkar’s name as it has sided with Savarkar opponents.
He fired the verbal salvoes at the Sena while speaking at a late night function held in Dombivli city on Thursday.
In his reverberating speech, former Maharashtra CM Fadnavis asserted, “These people (Shiv Sena) can never save Hinduism. What is needed is a mass awakening among the citizens of the country who could only save Hinduism.”
Justifying his tirade, he recounted, “Till recently, Shiv Sena was demanding that the Bharat Ratna be given to Savarkar. But, now when they come to power they are sitting side by side with those who curse and abuse Savarkar.”
“They should be ashamed to take the name of Savarkar he said. They have no right to even take his name,” he told.
He also referred to the recent suspension of dozen Rajya Sabha MPs, including those from Shiv Sena.
He claimed that when Sena MPs were asked to apologise, they retorted “are we Savarkar to apologise”.
“How can they become Sawarkar, they are not even comparable with the nails of Savarkar,” curtly remarked Mr Fadnavis.
