Ludhiana, Punjab : In a chilling extortion case that has left Ludhiana residents alarmed, an anonymous caller using the notorious gangster Sukha Lahoria’s name demanded ₹50 lakh from a city-based businessman, threatening to kill his entire family if the amount wasn’t paid. The threat wasn’t just verbal—armed assailants followed up by firing multiple rounds at the popular Sindhi Bakery, believed to be owned by the businessman, adding a terrifying layer of reality to the warning.

The incident took place earlier this week when the businessman received a phone call claiming to be from an associate of the dreaded gangster Lahoria, known for his violent past and underworld connections. The caller reportedly said, “Pay ₹50 lakh or we will kill you and your entire family.” Within 24 hours, shots were fired at the bakery’s premises, confirming the seriousness of the threat.

No one was injured in the shooting, but the gunfire has deeply shaken the local business community. Police sources confirmed that the attackers used a motorcycle to approach the bakery, opened fire, and fled the scene swiftly, making it clear this was meant to intimidate rather than cause casualties—at least for now.

The Ludhiana Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the case, treating it as a high-priority gang-related crime. CCTV footage from nearby shops is being reviewed, and mobile tracking is underway to trace the origin of the threatening call. Police have not ruled out the possibility that someone is misusing Lahoria’s name to instill fear and extort money.

Senior officers assured the public that security has been beefed up around the area and urged citizens not to panic. “We are pursuing all leads and will ensure the culprits are brought to justice. No one will be allowed to disturb peace in Ludhiana,” a top police official stated.

Meanwhile, business owners across Ludhiana have expressed growing concern over the rising trend of extortion and gang-related intimidation in the city. Many are now seeking additional security and police assistance to safeguard their establishments and families.

As investigations progress, authorities are under mounting pressure to break the backbone of such criminal networks before more lives and livelihoods are put at risk.
