Amritsar: Late Wednesday night, a loud explosion at the Majitha police station caused panic among residents and police personnel. However, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rural, Jaspal Singh Dhillon, clarified that the incident was not related to any bomb blast. He stated that the noise was caused by a motorcycle tire burst.

The explosion was powerful enough to shatter the windows of the police station, leading to a state of chaos at the scene. The police immediately cordoned off the station premises and locked the main gate to prevent unauthorized access. Investigations into the incident were launched promptly.

DSP Dhillon, along with the Station House Officer (SHO) Prabhjeet Singh, inspected the site. During their preliminary findings, the DSP explained that the blast occurred when a police officer was inflating a motorcycle tire. The tube overinflated and burst, causing the loud noise. No injuries or significant damage were reported beyond the broken windows.

Earlier in the day, a separate incident created tension in Amritsar when Narayan Singh Chodha attacked Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal near the revered Shri Harmandir Sahib. Badal escaped unhurt, but the attack added to the unease in the city.

The police department has urged residents to remain calm and avoid speculation about the explosion. Security measures around the station have been heightened, and authorities are conducting a thorough review to ensure no other cause was overlooked.

While the DSP has ruled out any foul play, officials have assured the public that they will maintain vigilance to prevent any potential security threats.
