Dehradun, March 15: Veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat on Tuesday asked the party to expel him after he was accused by the Uttarakhand Congress Working President of “selling” tickets in the just-held assembly elections. Reacting to the allegations by Ranjit Rawat, the former Chief Minister wrote on his Facebook that the allegation of selling ticket to fight the elections was a very serious one. “The allegation of selling posts and party tickets is very serious. It has been levelled against a person who was the Chief Minister, the State President and is also a member of Congress Working Committee (CWC). Therefore, the Congress should expel me,” he wrote on his social media account in Hindi. The person who has made these allegations was also holding an important post in the party, he said, adding that the charge was being spread by supporters of a person on a “very important post”. “So, I pray to God that the party expels me for this allegation,” he wrote. According to Ranjit Singh Rawat, some people’s money was refunded after they were denied the ticket. Harish Rawat lost from Lalkuwa assembly seat while the Congress could win only 19 of the total 70 seats. The BJP won 47 seats to retain power (UNI).
