Empowered School Management Committees Will Give a New Dimension to Education System: Mahipal Dhanda
Chandigarh– Union Minister Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan today launched the “Guidelines for School Management Committees–2026” at an event held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Haryana Education Minister Sh. Mahipal Dhanda joined the programme virtually.
Sharing details of the programme, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said that under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, the formation of School Management Committees (SMCs) in every school is an effective step from the perspective of the future of education. He said these committees are not merely on paper, but play a significant role in improving the quality of education at the ground level.
The Minister stated that the School Management Committees include representatives of local authorities, eminent educationists, subject experts, and notably, members from disadvantaged groups. Additionally, the participation of parents makes the system more transparent and accountable.
He said that SMCs function as an important statutory body and serve as a platform where parents, teachers, and community members come together to develop shared strategies for the effective functioning of schools.
He added that active participation of these committees is essential for school planning, proper allocation of resources, and improvement in students’ learning outcomes. This mechanism not only monitors infrastructure but also ensures the overall well-being of students.
Sh. Dhanda informed that the Department of School Education and Literacy has further strengthened the structure and functioning of these committees, keeping in view the provisions of the National Education Policy-2020, Samagra Shiksha, and the Right to Education Act, 2009.
During the meeting, Sh. Dhanda also sought guidance from Union Minister Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan on various educational aspects and reaffirmed that the Haryana Government is committed to providing quality and inclusive education in the state.
