ED Court rejects bail please of NCP leaders
Mumbai: A special court here on Thursday rejected jailed Mahrashtra NCP leader and Minister Nawab Malik and former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh’s plea seeking bail for a day to vote in the Rajya Sabha election to be held on Friday.
Special judge R N Rokade while rejecting the pleas, agreed with the submission made by the Enforcement Directorate that prisoners don’t have voting rights under the Representation of the People Act.
Both will now move the Maharashtra High Court۔
Malik was arrested in February by the ED for alleged money laundering. Former state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was arrested in November in a separate case. (UNI)
