Dubai/New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday visited the India Pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020 that saw 300,000 footfalls a day ago, and also interacted with his counterparts from Cyprus, Slovakia and Luxembourg on the sidelines.
Addressing a press conference along with Indian Ambassador Pavan Kapoor at the India Pavilion, Jaishankar said India is moving towards the resumption of scheduled flights.
“We are moving towards resumption of scheduled flights… The move to normalcy is progressing,” he said while addressing the media at India Pavilion at Expo.
He also highlighted that India already has travel agreements with 97 ‘Category-A’ countries that permit travel without or with limited quarantine requirements for doubly vaccinated passengers, the Gulf News quoted him as saying.
In tweets, the EAM spoke about his meetings with his counterparts from other countries and visiting the India pavilion.
“Visited the #IndiaPavilion @expo2020dubai.
“The 300,000 footfalls we had yesterday speaks for itself.”
“Good to see Foreign Minister @Christodulides (Nikos Christodulides) of Cyprus at the #IndiaPavilion in the Dubai #Expo2020.”
“Pleased to meet Slovakia FM @Ivankorcok (Ivan Korcok) in Dubai.
“Look forward to strengthening our cooperation with the Visegrad Group”, he said. Visegrad Four, V4, is a cultural and political alliance of four countries of Central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia).
“Glad to catch up with FM Jean Asselborn of Luxembourg in Dubai.
“Discussed our health sector cooperation,” he posted.
In a video message, Jaishankar also voiced delight at the India Pavilion getting 300,000 footfalls.
“I’m delighted to know that 300,000 footfalls have taken place yesterday, I’m sure there will be many more in the coming days. I think it (the India Pavilion) captures really the diversity of India, the aspirations of India, in many ways the achievements of the last few years, so I’m very confident that those who come to the pavilion will leave with a better sense of India, and I congratulate the organisers for conveying the message so effectively.”
Earlier, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Pavan Kapoor while speaking at the media interaction at the India Pavilion said the UAE is among those countries that now recognises India’s Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin that was recently approved for emergency use by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
“The UAE had clearly said that they recognise all the WHO-approved vaccines,” he pointed out, adding that Covaxin has now been added to the list of approved vaccines for travel to the UAE.
