Drones to monitor movement of kanwariyas on Gurgaon roads

210

Gurgaon: Following the accident on the Delhi-Jaipur highway that killed a kanwar pilgrim in the early hours of Wednesday, police said drones will be deployed to ensure smooth movement at busy intersections in the city amid the annual Kanwar Yatra.

Police on Wednesday launched the programme by flying drones in the sky at Subhash Chowk and Rajiv Chowk. “To ensure the smooth passage of the kanwariyas, the Gurgaon Traffic Police has been using drones from the beginning of the yatra. These drones help to safely navigate the Kanwariyas through crowded areas without any obstruction. The traffic police will continue to use these drones until the completion of the Kanwar Yatra on August 2. A large number of kanwariyas traveling towards Rajasthan and Sohna are being assisted by these drones at various intersections,” a spokesperson said.
