Delhi Metro liquor ban: Traders’ body

Traders’ association requests that alcoholic beverages be banned from the Delhi Metro. Brijesh Goyal, chairman of the CTI, has made a request to the DMRC to “withdraw its decision,” stating that allowing people to transport booze into the metro will lead to an increase in anti-social activities.

NEW DELHI: On Monday, a traders’ organisation announced that it had filed a complaint with the DMRC, pleading with it to reverse its decision to permit passengers to bring two sealed liquor bottles on Delhi Metro trains. In a statement, the Chamber of Trade and Industry said that allowing alcohol in trains will lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour. The statement also stated that a delegation from the traders’ organisation would meet with DMRC chief Vikas Kumar to discuss the matter.

“You may bring two sealed bottles of alcohol (per person) on the Metro, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). There is currently a backlash against it. According to the statement, the CTI has sent Managing Director Vikas Kumar a letter.

Brijesh Goyal, the chairman of the CTI, has asked the DMRC to “withdraw its decision” because he believes that allowing people to carry alcohol within the metro will lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour.How will it be stopped if someone brings a bottle inside, opens it, and begins to drink? asked the CTI.
