Despite all efforts, COVID claims 51 lives, 10455 new cases detected in Bihar
Patna, Apr 20 (UNI) Even after several efforts initiated to control COVID-19, the number of positive cases increased in Bihar during the past 24 hours where 10455 people tested positive while 51 lost their lives due to the infection during the period.
The government has imposed night curfew, closed down educational institutions and religious places to break the chain of infection. Even after all the efforts, the rate of infection increased to 10 per cent and the rate of recovery declined to 82.99 per cent.
According to the health department report, the number of active cases increased to 56354.
According to health department sources, 29 employees of the renowned Power Plant NTPC Limited of Barh and their 35 relatives tested positive for the infection. Nearly 200 employees of the 10 projects of the eastern region of NTPC also tested positive.
The sources said that with detection of 2186 new cases in Patna, the infection continue to increase alarmingly in the state capital.
Patna was followed by Gaya with 1081, Muzaffarpur 544, Saran 530, Bhagalpur 449,
Nalanda 375, Aurangabad 350, Begusarai 346, Vaishali 334, Munger 317, Purnia 294, West Champaran and Buxar 233 each, Siwan and Katihar 228 each, Jehanabad 180, East Champaran 168, Saharsa 163, Bhojpur and Samastipur 157 each, Jamui 156, Madhepura 153, Nawada 150, Arwal 146, Supaul 144, Rohtas 139, Gopalganj 118, Madhubani 114, Lakhisarai 103, Araria 89, Khagaria 88, Kishanganj 87, Darbhanga 81, Sheikhpura 72, Sitamarhi 66, Banka 65, Kaimur 52 and Sheohar 42.
The sources said that with 51 death during the past 24 hours, the death toll due to the disease increase to 1841 so far in the state.
