Delhi Police avert suicide attempt after Facebook alert
New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) An alert from Facebook and prompt action of Delhi Police on Thursday saved the life of a 43-year-old man who attempted suicide by consuming syrup used in thyroid treatment.
The person was admitted to hospital for treatment, police said.
According to the police, after it received an alert from Facebook that a man had shared message regarding a planned suicide attempt on the social media platform, the basis of alert Cyber Prevention Awareness Detection (CyPAD) conducted an enquiry and his location was traced in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden area. When police reached his resident he was found in semi-conscious condition.
During enquiry, police came to know that the man had consumed several bottles of thyroid treatment syrup.
Police said the man attempted suicide on Facebook live at around 1:30 pm and social media informed CyPAD through main at 2 pm after that the police team traced number to Rajouri Garden and team reached man’s house where he was found in semi-conscious state. The cops rushed him to a hospital at around 3:15 pm.
