New Delhi — Parts of Delhi-NCR woke up to showers on Thursday morning, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert. An earlier yellow alert was upgraded to a red warning this morning.
Rainfall led to waterlogging in several areas of Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram. Visuals from Basai Road in Gurugram showed severe water accumulation following the early morning downpour.
According to IMD, light to moderate rain is expected across most places, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely in isolated pockets over the next two to three hours. District-wise warnings on the IMD site indicate that Delhi will remain under a red alert until 8:30 am.
This fresh spell of rain comes just days after heavy downpours in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and other NCR areas caused multiple flight delays and cancellations earlier this week.
Apart from Delhi-NCR, IMD has also issued heavy rainfall warnings for Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Madhya Pradesh, and West Uttar Pradesh over the next few hours.
