Delhi govt to organise 3-day Ramlila

New Delhi: The Delhi government has announced a three-day grand Ramlila event for the residents of Delhi, starting Saturday. The event will be held at the Pyarelal Auditorium near ITO and will feature a live three-hour performance presented by the Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra from 4 pm to 7 pm.

The event is free for everyone, it said.

Announcing the event, Delhi’s Minister of Art, Culture, and Languages, Saurabh Bharadwaj, said the government’s Hindi Academy had been working on this plan for the past few days and expressed disappointment over the denial of permission by the BJP-led Centre to host the Ramlila at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan.

Bharadwaj said this shows BJP’s “double character”. “Their disgraceful actions reveal their petty politics,” he said.

Rejecting Bharadwaj’s allegations, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor hit out and said, “The AAP only wants to create controversy, they should be ashamed for causing controversy around an event celebrating Lord Ram.”
