Delhi Cold Wave: Temperature Drops to 6.4°C
Delhi experienced a significant drop in temperature on Thursday morning, with the mercury plummeting to 6.4°C, compared to the 8–11°C range recorded in recent days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the minimum temperature may dip further to around 5°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to hover near 21°C.
Cold Wave Intensifies Across North India
The cold wave has gripped northern India, with regions like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and the Kashmir Valley recording freezing temperatures. The IMD forecasts rain and snowfall in parts of northwest India later in the week due to a western disturbance.
Rain and Snow Forecast:
Rain and snowfall are likely in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh on Friday and Saturday.
Cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan over the next two days.
Air Quality in Delhi
Delhi’s air quality remains in the “poor” category, with an AQI of 287 recorded at 6 AM on Thursday. Neighboring areas like Noida and Ghaziabad also reported similar conditions.

Foggy conditions have disrupted visibility, with Delhi and its surrounding regions waking up to moderate fog. Residents are advised to take precautions against the chilly weather and poor air quality, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
