Deadly blast rocks Pakistan, 14 soldiers killed
Suicide car bomb in North Waziristan kills 14 soldiers, injures 25; Pakistan blames India, gets sharp response…..
Islamabad: A devastating suicide car bomb blast shook North Waziristan on Saturday, June 28, killing at least 14 Pakistani soldiers and injuring 25 others, including civilians, women, and children. The incident has triggered a wave of grief and tension in Pakistan’s tribal regions and escalated political rhetoric between Islamabad and New Delhi.
The explosion occurred in a remote village where security forces were reportedly conducting routine patrols. According to officials, a vehicle loaded with explosives rammed into a military convoy, resulting in a massive blast that was heard several kilometers away. Houses nearby were damaged, and rescue efforts continued into the night.
Security officials said the area has been under observation for militant activity and that the attack bore the hallmarks of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or affiliated groups. However, investigations are ongoing, and no group has officially claimed responsibility yet.
In a swift political turn, Pakistan’s Foreign Office accused India of “sponsoring terrorism” on Pakistani soil and hinted at possible links to the bombing. “We have credible evidence that external forces are aiding terrorist outfits to destabilize Pakistan,” a spokesperson said.
India, in response, strongly denied the allegations, calling them “baseless and politically motivated.” The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying, “India does not sponsor terrorism. It is Pakistan that must look inward and dismantle the terror networks operating freely on its soil.”
The attack has sparked nationwide mourning in Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the blast and vowed “stern action” against those responsible. “Our brave soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice. We will not let their blood go in vain,” he said while addressing the nation.
Meanwhile, defense analysts have raised concerns about the resurgence of militant activity in border areas, especially in regions that had previously been cleared by military operations. This attack is one of the deadliest in recent months and comes amid rising regional instability.
Funeral processions for the slain soldiers were held with full military honors, while injured victims continue to receive treatment in military and civilian hospitals.
