The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 is all set to kick off on Friday, August 15, with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKN) clashing against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) in the tournament opener at Warner Park, St. Kitts. This will mark the start of the 13th edition of the league, promising thrilling cricket action over the coming weeks.
For the Patriots, last season was a campaign to forget as they finished at the bottom of the table, managing just one win from ten matches. After starting with a victory, they suffered a nine-match losing streak and were out of contention for the knockouts early. Their last playoff qualification came in 2021, a season they went on to win. With star players like Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Naseem Shah, and Waqar Salamkheil, SKN will be determined to bounce back this year.
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, who debuted in 2024, also struggled in their maiden campaign, finishing fifth with three wins and seven losses. Despite their poor start in the league, the Falcons have retained and added firepower with names such as Bevon Jacobs, Allah Ghazanfar, Naveen-ul-Haq, Jayden Seales, Odean Smith, and Rakheem Cornwall, all ready to turn the tide in 2025.
Both teams will be eager to begin their season with a win, making the opening clash an exciting prospect for fans worldwide.
