Covid claims one more life in Kangra, death toll reaches 1037
9Dharamshala, Jul 22 (UNI) A 65-year-old woman died in Kangra district on Thursday due to lethal novel Coronavirus, raising death toll in the district to 1,037.
As many as 15 Covid-19 fresh cases tested positive today for the coronavirus, pushing the Kangra district case load to 46,210.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal told UNI that all the 15 fresh cases have been isolated as per the protocol.
He said that a 65-year-old female, resident of Sujanpur of Hamirpur district, who was admitted at Dr RPGMC Tanda and managed as per protocol unfortunately died today.
He said that there was decline in the number of active cases to 127 on Thursday. He said that there were 23 recoveries too, pushing the number of recovered patients to 45,042.
Meanwhile, as many as 11,613 people were given the first vaccine dose and 6078 were given the second dose at 94 places in Kangra district on Thursday.
Kangra Chief Medical Officer Dr Gurudarshan Gupta told UNI that till date, 10,11,682 people have been vaccinated in the district, out of which 7,89,073 people have been given at least one dose, which is 65.06 per cent of the total eligible people and 2,22,609 people have been given both doses.
The DC said that effective steps are being taken to make available the COVID vaccine to all citizens. He said that effective steps have also been taken to ensure that all the people get the facility of vaccination and smooth monitoring of the vaccination campaign is being ensured at the district level also.
He said that arrangements have been made to vaccinate people at the village level even without slot booking so that no one faces any problem to participate in the vaccination campaign.
He said that under the vaccination campaign, people are also being made aware to take the dosage, for this a Covid Management Task Force has also been constituted at the Panchayat level.
Dr Nipun Jindal said that the government and administration are taking effective steps to deal with Covid.
