Jitendra to file defamation suit of Rs One cr against BJP’s Randhawa
Jammu, May 3 (UNI) Soon after a senior BJP leader and former MLC levelled allegations of corruption against Union MoS in PMO and his staff, Dr Jitendra Singh said that he will be filing a defamation suit of Rs one crore against him.
Ex MLC and senior BJP leader Choudhary Vikram Singh Randhawa here on Monday during a press conference alleged that the police, administration are working at the behest of Union MoS while the Stone Crusher Owners Association, is not being allowed to operate except those paying lakhs to the officers in the District Mining Office as a bribe.
He also said that he has been served a notice worth lakhs as penalty and if it will not be reverted back, he threatened that along with family he will self immolate on coming Monday outside the office of the DMO.
Sanjeev Sharma, BJP Executive Member and In-charge Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Jitendra Singh, here told reporters, “after listening to the press conference, it seems that Mr Randhawa is under someone’s pressure and was dictated for media briefing.”
“He has levelled serious allegations against Dr Singh and taking the cognizance of his remarks, the Minister has decided to file a defamation case of Rs One crore against Mr Randhawa, who is also the president of Stone Crusher Owners Association,” said Mr Sharma.
He said that either he (Randhawa) should apologise publicly for his statement or prove the allegations in 24 hours with a proof otherwise, he has to face a defamation suit of Rs One crore.
“Not only this, the legal opinion is that unless an evidence is produced, the media may be debarred from further reporting of the alleged statement, otherwise they may also be made party to court proceedings,” he expressed.
Meanwhile District Mining Officer (DMO), Mr Ankur Sachdeva, whose name was also surfaced in the allegations levelled by Mr Randhawa, speaking to a section of reporters said that he has obeyed the Court orders on whose directions illegal mining was stopped in the River Tawi bed.
“Mr Randhawa is also having a crusher and he was among those indulged in illegal mining which was banned by the Court after a PIL was filed,” said Mr Sachdeva.
