Puducherry: Floral tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 31st death anniversary here on Saturday. Chief Minister N Rangaswamy, PWD Minister K Lakshminarayanan, Assembly Deputy Speaker P Rajavelu, legislators and senior officials of the territorial administration garlanded the statue of Rajiv at Ellaipillaichavady. Teachers of the Jawhar Balbhawan sung patriotic songs at the pedestal of the statue and Chief Minster administered the anti-terrorism pledge. Rich tributes were paid to a decorated portrait of Rajiv Gandhi at the Congress party office. Former Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, PCC President A V Subramanian and Lok Sabha member V Vaithiingam are among others who garlanded the statue of Rajiv at Ellaipillaichavady on the occasion. (UNI)
