Haryana / Chandigarh : The Haryana Budget Session commenced with a notable absence as Congress MLAs attended without a Leader of the Opposition. The session, presided over by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, focused on the state’s achievements and future plans. The Governor listed 10 key accomplishments of the government while also outlining six major initiatives for the coming years.
During his address, the Governor highlighted Haryana’s progress in various sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and digital governance. He emphasized that the state has seen significant economic growth, improved law enforcement, and an increase in employment opportunities. Additionally, Haryana’s rural and urban development projects have gained momentum, with various welfare schemes benefiting the public.
The absence of a Leader of the Opposition became a point of discussion, as the Congress has yet to appoint a replacement following Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s resignation from the role. Despite this, Congress MLAs actively participated in the session, raising questions on governance and budget allocations.
The Governor also presented a vision for the future, outlining six key initiatives that the government aims to implement. These include enhancing digital services, expanding infrastructure, boosting agricultural output, strengthening law enforcement, promoting industrial investment, and improving public healthcare services. The government is also focusing on education reforms and youth empowerment programs to drive further growth in the state.
A significant part of the session was dedicated to paying tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala. The assembly observed a moment of silence in their memory, acknowledging their contributions to Indian politics and public service.
Political analysts view this budget session as crucial for the ruling government, especially in the backdrop of upcoming elections and ongoing economic and social challenges. The session is expected to witness intense debates between the ruling party and the opposition, particularly on issues related to budget allocations, employment, and public welfare schemes.
With Congress still in search of a new Leader of the Opposition, their strategy for the rest of the session remains uncertain. Meanwhile, the state government is focused on presenting a budget that addresses economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare in Haryana.
