Citizens should refrain from going near river drains: Dharamsala DC

Dharamsala: District Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal on Wednesday said that people should refrain from going near river drains during the rainy season, besides instructions have also been given to the sub-divisional officers concerned to put up sign boards at places sensitive to landslides and others so that accidents can be prevented.

Deputy Commissioner said that a disaster control room has also been set up at the district level, which will be open 24 hours a day so that relief and rehabilitation work can be started with quick effect during the disaster at any level.
Deputy Commissioner further said that rapid disaster relief teams have also been constituted, besides this, control rooms have also been set up at sub-divisional level and necessary equipment has also been made available to deal with the disaster at the sub-divisional level.
Dr Nipun Jindal said that the Public Works Department has also been directed to keep JCBs and necessary equipment ready so that they can be rectified with immediate effect in case of closure of roads etc. The Deputy Commissioner said that volunteers have also been prepared through the Disaster Management Authority who will help the administration and people in times of disaster.
He said that instructions have already been given to appoint officers of all departments as nodal officers for disaster management so that relief works can be started expeditiously through the departments concerned.
Deputy Commissioner while directing the revenue officers said that during the disaster, immediate relief should be provided to the affected families with immediate effect so that people do not face any kind of inconvenience. (UNI)
