CII congratulates Telangana Minister for his efforts towards promoting Arts
Hyderabad, Sep 15 (UNI) Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chairman Sameer Goel congratulated Telangana Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao for his continued efforts towards promoting Arts and Crafts in the state. In a statement here on Wednesday, he said that it is a proud moment for Telangana to have such a proactive leader.
He, through his innovative ideas showcased the rich tradition of the state by gifting Geographical Indication (GI) products of Telangana like the Pochampally Ikat Sarees , Cheriyal Painting Karimnagar Silver Filigree to all the MPs and members who were in the city for the Parliamentary Standing Committee meeting on Information and Technology on September 7 and 8.
Mr Mahua Mitra, MP, in a tweet thanked the Minister for the wonderful gesture to gift a nice traditional craft of Telangana.
Mr Subhajit Saha, Director, CII Telangana added that it is a matter of pride for CII as well as the crafts which were facilitated by CII towards GI registration.
In addition, it plays a major role in boosting artisans income on getting a good premium and also promote tourism. Recently, the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) nominated Pochampally village as one of the three villages in the country in the ‘Best Tourism Village’ category for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation Awards 2021 (UNWTO).
Also, with Ramappa temple in Warangal being designated as UNESCO heritage site, the state of Telangana stands at an unique position to be the first state in the country to launch the concept of GI tourism to this site to promote these GI registered Crafts of Pochampally Ikat and Warangal Durries and also revive the tourism sector in a big way post-covid, the statement added.
