CBI traps a Sub-Inspector of Delhi Police while accepting Rs. 4.5 lakh bribe as part of big deal

Rs. 4.5 lakh was allegedly a part of the Rs. 25 lakh bribe demanded by the SI as per the compliant  registered with the CBI report investigating agency sources.

It is reported the complainant, an employee of a company in the area was promised by the alleged SI a favour of sparing family members of his company top honcho, who was in Tihar Jail in some ongoing investigation case (FI R 16/2018). It is alleged the deal between police  officers (2) and the company employee was struck 10-12 days back, when company MD was brought  to Barakhamba Road PS from jail.  Two police SIs (named in a FIR, as Varun Chichi and Rajesh Yadav)  working in tandem promised to spare the daughter and son-in-law of the company MD on the pretext of  impending arrest in the related case, in return for a hefty bribe of Rs. 25 lakhs.  On Monday, Rs. 4.5 lakh was being exchanged as part of the deal,  when CBI laid a trap and apprehended one of the SIs with the booty in cash.

CBI is reported to be searching the premises of both the police officials for further investigation as we go to the press and wait for more details of the case. (Representative images; Story based on feed from PIB Chandigarh)
