Capt Amarinder ordered reinstatement of police officer Bikramjit Singh
Bikramjit Singh could present any new fact proving his innocence
Chandigarh, Nov 7 (UNI) Clearing the air about the Punjab Government reinstating the then Faridkot SP (D) Bikramjit Singh facing criminal case in connection with the Behbal Kalan firing, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that the orders to this effect were given by former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
In a statement here, Mr Randhawa, who also holds Home Department, said that former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, who also held the Home portfolio, had ordered the reinstatement of the concerned police officer despite the fact that the then Additional Chief Secretary (Home) not writing in favour of the officer.
He further mentioned that the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) in a note sent to the Chief Minister on July 13, 2021 had written that during the investigation the officer in question was unable to produce any concrete evidence nor he could present any new fact proving his innocence. After that, the then Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh ordered the reinstatement of police officer Bikramjit Singh by just withholding a single increment.
