BJP sweeps UP Block President election, 635 out of 825 seats
A journalist slapped by CDO amid violence during voting, counting !
Lucknow, NewsonRadar Correspondent, Jul 10: Ruling Bhartiya Janata Party candidates swept Block President elections in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Out of 735 candidates put up by the Party 635 have won, leaving major opposition parties high and dry. CM Adityanath Yogi has credited party’s victory to PM Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’. No reaction has been reported from the opposition party leaders yet. Opposition Samajwadi Party could get only 70 seats, Congress 2, while 95 independents were the victors out of 825 seats that went for polls in the state.
Election related violence has been reported in some districts during the day. Unnao, Etawah and Hathras districts have reported protests and violence amongst opposing supporters.
