Big Bio-diesel Adulteration racket in Maharashtra
5 culprits, Bio-fuel, equipment worth Rs 30.86 lakh seized
Thane, Dec 16 (UNI) Officials of the Crime Branch Kalyan unit raided a premises in Adavali of Manpada in Dombivli and burst an ongoing racket in the adulteration of Bio-diesel the police said on Thursday.
Sr.PI Sanju John of the Crime Unit at Kalyan said that acting on a complaint and tip off the police team raided a gala near a housing society at Adavali village in the small hours of Wednesday and nabbed the five who were busy in the adulteration process.
The police said that the accused (whose names have not not been revealed) were mixing Mineral Turpentine Oil, Base oil and mix chemical color into it and produced the Bio-diesel to be pushed into the market.
The accused made use of the PVC pipes and the electric motors to fill the Bio diesel into the Eicher tanker, and Mahindra Pickup van. They were busy filling the tanks for sale of the adulterated diesel when the police tracked down them.
The police team which raided the premises along with the PDS officials seized a total of 9500 liters of adulterated oil, accessories for manufacturing the oil and also the two vehicles all valued at Rs. 30,86,700 said the police officer.
An offence under sections 420,285 of the IPC and also Mineral Spirit and High Speed Diesel ( regulation of supply, distribution, and prevention of malpractices order 2005) and Essential commodities act has been registered against the five with the Manpada police station the police said. They were produced before the local magistrate who remanded them to police custody till December 21, 2020, the officer said.
