‘Bharat Rashtra Samithi’ would be KCR route for national politics
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao launched the National Party ‘Bharat Rashtra Samithi’ (BRS) at the TRS General Body meeting held at Telangana Bhavan here today, marking his entry into the National Politics ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha election.
The announcement was made by the Chief Minister at the auspicious time and on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami at 1.19 p.m after the GBM adopted a resolution to change the name of TRS to BRS.
The resolution was signed by 283 participants present at the General Body meeting.
With the launch of the new National party, the 21-year-old TRS, founded on April 27, 2001 by KCR with an aim to achieve a separate Telangana state, was changed to BRS.
The TRS General Body Meeting was attended by Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party executive committee members, Zilla Parishad Chairpersons, district party presidents and chairpersons of corporations.
Joyous scenes were witnessed across the state with the party leaders and cadres celebrating the launch of the National party by bursting crackers.
The resolution said: ‘TRS party has conducted its GB meeting on Wednesday at its party headquarters here.
The party GBM unanimously resolved to change the name of the party from TRS to BRS, with a view
to expand its activities nation-wide, accordingly the constitution of the party is also amended.’
TRS leaders will meet ECI officials in Delhi on Thursday and submit the resolution for recognizing the BRS as a National Party.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and President of Viduthalai Kiruthiga Katchi Thol Thiruvalavan present at the GBM greeted KCR as soon as the announcement was made.
TRS General Secretary J Santosh Kumar wrote a letter to Election Commission of India (ECI) after announcing the National party which stated ‘Telangana Rashtra Samithi in its State General Body meeting dated 05.10.2022 has passed a resolution to change the name of the Party from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
To that effect, necessary amendments to the party Constitution have also been made in the same meeting.
The Resolution and the Amended Party Constitution is submitted,’ the letter said.
KCR has been indicating his ambition to play a key role in National politics since 2019 and revealed his plans to launch a National Party after the TRS plenary in April.
The Chief Ministers ought to know from the people at public meetings if he should play a role in the National politics and got an affirmative answer. (UNI)
