Batsman Dies in Punjab After Hitting Six

Was going to shake hands after fifty, suddenly collapsed face-first mid-pitch; VIDEO surfaces…..

Patiala: A local cricket match in Punjab turned tragic when a young batsman collapsed and died moments after hitting a six to complete his fifty. The shocking incident occurred in Patiala, and a video of the event has surfaced on social media, leaving everyone stunned and heartbroken.

The batsman, identified as 26-year-old Gagandeep Singh, was playing in a friendly match at a village ground. According to eyewitnesses, he was in great form and had just completed his half-century with a massive six. As he walked down the pitch to shake hands with his batting partner, he suddenly collapsed face-first midway and stopped responding.

Teammates and spectators rushed to him immediately. He was unresponsive and not breathing. He was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Preliminary reports suggest cardiac arrest as the likely cause of death.

One of his teammates, still in shock, said, “He was absolutely fine. Laughing, batting, and playing his best. None of us could believe what happened in just seconds.”

The entire match was being recorded, and the disturbing video shows Gagandeep raising his bat after the six, walking calmly, and then suddenly falling flat on his face on the pitch without any contact or warning signs.

Doctors at the hospital stated that such sudden cardiac arrests, though rare in young athletes, can occur due to undiagnosed heart conditions or overexertion. They added that post-mortem would reveal the exact cause.

The incident has sparked concern and conversation around the need for regular health checkups even for amateur sports players. Local cricket clubs and associations are now considering implementing mandatory medical screenings for players before tournaments.

Gagandeep was known for his dedication to the sport and had been playing local tournaments for several years. His sudden demise has left the local cricket community in mourning.

His family, devastated by the news, has requested privacy. Final rites will be performed in his native village on Monday.
