ATA delegation represents to Delhi Govt. and LG for VAT, ATF rate cuts
It is learnt the Civil Aviation Ministry has put its weight on the industry side and advised Delhi govt. to reduce taxation to a reasonable levels. It is also learnt several states have already carried out reduction by 1-4% in relevant taxes
New Delhi: A delegation of Air Travellers Association (ATA) has sent a representyation to the Delhi Chief Minister and Delhi’s Lt. Governor raising the issue of higher Taxation, VAT, ATF etc. for Air Travel thru’ Airlines, Travel agents and other services.
After sending the representations to the Delhi CM and LG, the ATA representatives led by veteran GS Bawa, Secretary General ATA, called on the officials of Department of Taxation of the Delhi government, on Wednesday last. The meeting was very cordial and fruitful, as the concerned officials have promised to help alleviate the financial burden of Delhi travelers, Travel Agents and other stake holders,
The stakeholders agreed on the need for rationalization of ATF taxes to alleviate the financial strain on passengers says an ATA press note. The meeting marked a significant step towards resolving the issue. ATA will continue to work closely with the Delhi government and other stakeholders to ensure that the concerns of air travellers are addressed at the earliest.
