New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga on Friday agreed to constitute a Committee each for resolving the border dispute between both the states through ‘dialogue.’
The development in the long-pending boundary issue came after both the CMs of the North East (NE) states met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Friday evening.
Talking to reporters at the Assam House here shortly after their meeting with Union Home Minister , Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “In today’s meeting We have discussed the Assam-Mizoram border issue. We have decided to constitute a Committee each for resolving the border dispute.”
Replying to a query, Sarma, who is also the convenor of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) said, “It was decided that in the Committee if required, Opposition will also be included. Each government will decide who will be there in the Committee. Both the Committees will resolve the border disputes through discussion.”
He also informed that CMs level talk will also take place from time to time.
Sarma further informed that he and Zoramthanga have resolved to maintain peace and tranquility at the border.
