Itanagar, Oct 28 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla, who is in the state capital, on Thursday exhorted the Arunachal Pradesh government to send proposals to his ministry for getting various welfare schemes meant for the minority communities. He also appealed to the netizens of the state to avail the benefits of the various schemes for minorities.

Barla, in a press conference here, said that due to lack of awareness many states do not know about the various schemes that have been made available for the minority communities.
The visiting Union Minister, who will be meeting Chief Minister Pema Khandu tomorrow, said that he discussed the minority schemes and its benefits with the state Chief Secretary and requested him to create awareness on the various minority welfare schemes.
Proposal for schemes should be made through state government to the central government, so that people can avail the benefits of schemes such as Sikho aur Kamao, financial aid for construction of community halls, Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, etc, he added.
“Apart from the scholarships, there is a scheme for residential schools, hostel, and women’s hostel, hospital, coaching centre, Sadbhavna hall and Mandap,” he said while talking about the various schemes under the ministry.
“There are many schemes for the minority communities, the only need now is to have the proposals coming in,” he said. He also said that the North Eastern states can have better benefits from these schemes as the states avail the central schemes benefits on the basis of 90:10 ratio.
