Kakinada, Nov 17 (UNI) The East Godavari police organised Kala Jathas to create awareness among the tribals on the dangerous effects of the age old evil practice.
The services of noted Kala Jatha artistes were engaged by the police and these troops will be touring the agency villages to propagate the message of dangerous effects of Ganja cultivation and smuggling, police said.
As a part of the programme awareness sadassu in the name of `Parivartana ‘ was organised in Sokulagudem village of Rampachodavaram mandal on Wednesday which attracted the tribal youth and the elders the most.
The tribals clearly explained that their lives would be spoiled if involved in cases of ganja cultivation and smuggling.
Instead they were advised to cooperate with the police in putting an end to the evil practice and also to avail the benefits of alternate ways for making an honest living .
SP Ravindranath Babu who initiated the Parivarthana plan and implemented it with the support of the district administration and local industrialists, has assured the tribals that alternate employment would be provided to them if they distanced themselves from Ganja cultivation and smuggling activity, police added.
