Amritsar Airport: Customs Seizes Gold Worth ₹2.58 Crore from Passenger
Amritsar: The Customs Department at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport, Amritsar, has recovered gold worth crores of rupees from a passenger during a routine inspection. The seized gold is estimated to be valued at around ₹2.58 crore in the international market.
According to information, the passenger had arrived at the airport to travel to Kuala Lumpur on flight number MH-119. During security checking, officials found his behaviour suspicious and stopped him for detailed inspection. A thorough search led to the recovery of gold from his possession.
Custom officials said the total weight of the seized gold is 1.676 kilograms. The gold has been confiscated, and the passenger is currently being questioned. Preliminary investigations are underway to determine where the gold was sourced from and to whom it was intended to be delivered.
The Customs Department has initiated further action in the case. Officials stated that surveillance at the airport has been intensified to prevent smuggling activities, and strict monitoring is being maintained on suspicious movements.
