All set for national Kabaddi tournament: Girisha

Tirupati, Jan 4 (UNI) Tirupati Municipal Commissioner (TMC) P S Girisha said on Tuesday that all preparations and arrangements were in place for the prestigious five day long national Kabaddi tournament commencing from Wednesday.
The TMC Commissioner told UNI that all arrangements for accommodation, food and transportation of sportsmen, women, coaches, have been completed.
He said as per Covid-19 guidelines RT PCR testing by the municipal health team was mandatory for every sportsman and coach. Entire playgrounds and their accommodation have been sanitized and every visitor has to wear a mask and also use sanitisers.
All security arrangements were also made under supervision of the Tirupati Urban Superintendent of Police V Appala Naidu.
He said though the budget of the tournament was above Rs 1 crore, a major percentage of the expenditure is covered by sponsors who are both domestic and overseas Kabaddi lovers.
The chief guest of the tournament Arjun Awardee Honnappa Goud and Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand are already in Tirupati and many other invitees are on the way.
Tirupati Member of Parliament Dr M Gurumurthy, MLA Karunakar Reddy and TMC chairperson Shirisha, Council members expressed confidence that the tournament would be a grand success with support of people of Tirupati.
