Birmingham, March 17: World championship silver medalist Kidambi Srikanth’s campaign at the BWF Super 1000 All England Open Badminton Championships ended with a Round-16 loss to Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia here on Thursday. Srikanth lost 21-9, 18-21, 19-21 to Ginting in a closely-contested match that lasted for one hour and two minutes. Meanwhile, women’s doubles team of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela entered the quarterfinal after their Indonesian opponent retired mid-way in the second game. The Indians lost the first game to Greysia Polii-Apriyani Rahayu, but were leading 19-14 in the second before Rahayu retired and thus, they were announced the winner of the match. Moreover, the Indian underdogs have showcased a fine form in the tournament so far.
