Ali Zaidi new president of UP Shia Central Waqf Board
Lucknow, Nov 15 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government nominee Ali Zaidi of Lucknow has been elected unopposed as the president of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board.
Outgoing president Syed Wasim Rizvi and Syed Faizi, both members, boycotted this election of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board here on Monday.
Officials here said that Ali Zaidi, a resident of Lucknow, was elected unopposed as the chairman of the Shia Waqf Board. Six out of eight members participated in the elections.
Newly elected president of the Board is the son in law of renowned Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Kalbe Jawad.
UP State Minister of State for Minority Welfare Mohsin Raza has congratulated Ali Zaidi. Raza said that Ali Zaidi’s victory is the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s policy of zero tolerance on corruption. ” Justice will be done to the people of the state’s Shia community, who were harassed by the previous board,” he added.
