Al Qadsiah stun Al Nassr 3-1 in Saudi Pro League shock
Dammam : Al Qadsiah delivered a statement performance on Sunday, defeating league leaders Al Nassr 3-1 in a Saudi Pro League 2025-26 clash at the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium on Sunday.
The result not only dented Al Nassr’s title charge but also ended their 20-match winning run in the league, tightening the race at the top as the season approaches its decisive phase, according to ESPN.
Al Qadsiah took the lead in the 24th minute through Mohammed Abu Al Shamat, capitalising on early pressure and defensive gaps in the Al Nassr backline. The visitors responded before half-time when João Felix restored parity in the 39th minute with a composed finish, ensuring the teams went into the break level at 1-1.
After the half-mark, Al Qadsiah regained control. Musab Fahd Aljuwayr struck in the 55th minute to restore the lead, finishing a well-worked move from midfield.
Al Nassr pushed for an equaliser but were exposed on the counter, and Julian Quinones sealed the result in the 78th minute with a clinical strike, making it 3-1. The home side managed the closing stages comfortably, denying Al Nassr any route back into the contest.
With the victory, Al Qadsiah strengthened their position in the top four of the table with 68 points from 31 matches.
Al Nassr remain top with 79 points, followed by Al Hilal in second with 74 points and Al Ahli in third with 69 points. Al Taawoun complete the top five with 52 points, keeping the battle for Asian qualification and the title race intensely competitive as the season enters its final stretch.
The defeat marks a rare setback for Al Nassr after a dominant run of form, while Al Qadsiah continue their impressive campaign with a significant win over one of the league’s strongest sides, boosting their confidence and standing as they continue to push for continental qualification places.
