Now that Akasa can travel internationally

Now Akasa is able to fly on routes that take them overseas. This achievement paves the way for Akasa Air to begin international service as required by Indian laws, which state that an airline must have a fleet of at least 20 aircraft in order to become eligible for international operations.

NEW DELHI: The newest airline in the nation, Akasa Air, announced on Tuesday that it has added the 20th aircraft to its fleet, enabling it to begin operating abroad.By the end of 2023, Akasa intends to launch its foreign activities, as previously stated. The airline asserts that it is the first airline in Asia to add the Boeing 737 MAX 737-8-200 model to its fleet.

According to Indian laws, airlines must have at least 20 aircraft in their fleet to be qualified for international operations, hence Akasa Air is now able to conduct international flights. “Going from 0 to 20 aircraft within 12 months is not just an Akasa record; it is a record that captures the potential of our great country and one that our entire nation can be proud of,” said Vinay Dube, founder and CEO of Akasa Air. I’m really happy with how fast our airline has expanded.

Since beginning its commercial operations in August 2022, Akasa has flown over 900 times each week between 16 Indian cities using a network of 35 distinct routes. According to a press statement, the B737-8-200 aircraft was handed over to the airline on July 28 at the Boeing factory in Seattle, Washington, and it arrived in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Prior to its inauguration in 2021, the airline had made an order for 72 aircraft, including 23 737-8s and 53 high-capacity 737-8-200 aircraft. The airline stated in June of this year that it will buy four more Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. At the moment, Akasa offers about 900 weekly flights between 16 destinations.
