Akali Dal: A phony face as cat is finally out of bottle-literally
Chandigarh, Jan 18 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal on Tuesday dismissed as a “phony fraud and puppet show” the AAP exercise of staging a ‘mock tele-poll’ to elect its Punjab Chief Ministerial face in
Bhagwant Mann.
“AAP has ‘elected’ its first “phoney CM face. Now, let Punjab elect its real Chief Minister. As Arvind Kejrival, a “foxy Delhite, had always wanted to remote-control Punjabis from Delhi via a hand set, one must say that this phone idea was brilliant, but only for controlling the AAP’s internal circus,” tweeted Harcharan Bains, the Principal Advisor to SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal.
“AAP has finally brought the Billie is out of the ‘bottle’, literally,” said Bains in an apparent jibe at the well-publicized weakness of an AAP leader for alcohol. “AAP had no choice but to go virtual even for its internal exercise because not many can stand the smell of liquor. But it is time now to get down to the serious business of solving the problems of the people of Punjab. And this is where you need serious, “sober” and responsible leadership, not stand-up comedians,” tweeted the SAD’s Principal Advisor who is also the party’s chief media spokesperson.
Bains said that the AAP convener Arvind Kejrival had unwittingly confessed that of 2.23 crore out the total of 2.41 crore phone users in Punjab remained indifferent to the AAP hoax, and only 21 lakh responded to the mock exercise, and that too only if we believe all the claims made by Kejrival.
“And even more shameful and humbling must have been the revelation that many of these AAP supporters also rejected all AAP leaders including Bhagwant Mann and Kejrival and opted for someone from another party,” he said.
He also wondered how relevant AAP’s Punjab leaders are as they sat meekly when their first and the most important function was conducted in Hindi, ignoring the mother tongue, Punjabi, and that too on Punjab’s soil.
