ADG Prashant Kumar: Special register to be maintained at every police station during polls
Lucknow, Jan 9 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police is fully prepared to maintain law and order during state assembly elections, for this a special election register will be kept at every police station in which all poll related activities will be recorded, said Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar on Sunday.
Kumar was addressing a press conference here today, he added, “The police are ready for the polls. This time a special election register will be maintained at every police station in which all poll related activities will be recorded. Polling in 11 districts will be held in the first phase and verification of all the booths has been completed.”
He said that physical verification of all 92,821 polling centers in all 403 assembly segments has been completed. It is 2.24 percent higher as compared to 2017 assembly elections. The ADG said that a list of criminals, who influence the elections from the jail, has been prepared. “Criminals lodged in the jails will not be able to affect the polls,” he said.
He said that the security agencies will maintain a close vigil on the activities of the criminals. Additional vigilance will be maintained at 29,138 polling booths which have been marked as sensitive.
Kumar said that out of the 11,33,894 licensed firearms in the state 3,68,490 have been deposited so far and the rest will be deposited soon.
