AAP has run out of wind: Avinash Rai Khanna
Hamirpur: Himachal BJP in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna said on Sunday that the defeat of Gurmel Singh, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate in the Sangrur by-elections proves that the party has lost the faith of the masses.
In a statement, Khanna said that the AAP has lost its steam in just four months.
Referring to Gurmel Singh’s defeat, he said that the people of Punjab have taught a lesson to AAP leaders for ignoring them.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann lost his booth and the party could not get the lead from there.
He said that the AAP has spoiled the atmosphere of Punjab, the result of which was evident in the polls.
Khanna said that about 100 days ago, the Aam Aadmi Party had cheated the people of Punjab to win the assembly elections, but Sangrur was defeated in the first political challenge in the form of the by-election.
The BJP leader said that during the short tenure of the AAP government, the law-and-order situation in Punjab collapsed badly. The biggest blow to the image of the party was the killing of singer Sidhu Musewala. The Mann government released a list on May 28, deciding to cut down on VIP security. Singer Musewala was also named in the list.
He said that the very next day, on May 29, Moosewala was assassinated. The public called this massacre the result of the short-sightedness of the Punjab government.
Khanna said that winning this seat for AAP was also a matter of prestige because Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was elected MP twice from this seat and at this time, he heads the Punjab government.
He said that during the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, incidents like the murder of famous singer Sidhu Musewala, the killing of three Kabaddi players, and the attack on the Intelligence Headquarters of Punjab Police have raised many questions about the law and order of the state. The severe power crisis was also becoming a big issue, he added. (UNI)
