Aamir Khan: It Was My Dream to Make Affordable
Cinema Accessible to Every Indian...
Actor Says Theatre Is Now in People’s Pockets, Highlights Vision for Inclusive Entertainmen….
Mumbai Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has once again won hearts — not through a film release, but with his visionary statement about making cinema accessible and affordable for every Indian. Speaking at a recent public event, Aamir expressed his long-standing dream to reach every citizen with quality entertainment without burdening their wallets.
“For years, I have struggled with the idea — how to take good, meaningful films to every Indian. It has always been my dream to ensure that even those from the most modest backgrounds can watch films without worrying about ticket prices,” Aamir said.
He emphasized how technology has changed the landscape of entertainment, making it possible for movies to reach audiences directly through mobile phones and affordable internet. “Today, theatre is in everyone’s pocket. A smartphone, a data pack, and a streaming platform — that’s all it takes,” he added.
Aamir, known for socially impactful films like Taare Zameen Par, Dangal, and PK, shared how he has always believed that storytelling has the power to inspire, inform, and unite. However, he acknowledged that high ticket prices in multiplexes often made cinema a luxury for many.
Now, with the rise of OTT platforms and mobile accessibility, he feels the entertainment industry has entered a new, democratic phase. “Digital platforms have revolutionized reach — whether you’re in a metro city or a small village, you can enjoy the same film at the same time,” he noted.
The actor-producer also hinted at launching or supporting projects that focus on low-cost content distribution and regional storytelling. “Our strength lies in diversity. I want to help bring stories from every corner of India to the forefront — and make sure no one is left out just because of affordability,” he said.
Aamir Khan’s remarks come at a time when the film industry is navigating the post-pandemic shift from traditional theatrical releases to digital-first strategies. His comments resonate strongly with the growing demand for inclusive, budget-friendly entertainment options in India’s rural and semi-urban sectors.
The actor concluded by saying, “Cinema is for everyone — not just for those who can afford a multiplex seat. That’s been my fight, and I’m happy that the change is finally happening.”
