Dharamshala , Jun 6 (UNI) Despite the outbreak of the global pandemic corona, the health department in Kangra district is paying equal attention to the plans of other health departments along with dealing with corona. Due to which the pace of other health schemes remained the same. In this episode, the Atal Ashirwad Yojana being run by the state government is proving to be a boon for the people.
Atal Ashirwad Yojana was launched in Himachal Pradesh on February 13, 2019. Under his Yojna, on the birth of both daughter and son, a baby kit is provided to the relatives of the newborn by the concerned hospital management.
So far 13,191 eligible people have been benefited under this scheme in Kangra district.
District Health Officer Dr Vikram Katoch told UNI that keeping in mind the health of the children, the state government provides free baby kits to the children of eligible families. Apart from the government hospital, this facility is also being given to those pregnant women who give birth to a newborn in a private hospital.
He said that the baby kit includes 12 items for the use of mother and child. In the first packet, a toothbrush, toothpaste, bath soap and Vaseline are provided for the mother. The second packet consists of a full-sleeved outfit, two baby vests, a square piece of velvet, gloves and wool socks, 100ml baby massage oil, baby towels, six baby cloth nappies, 100ml hand sanitiser, baby hand sanitisers, a mosquito net, a blanket, and a plastic rattle toy are included. A baby kit costs around Rs 1,500.
Poor people are getting a lot of benefits from this Yojana run by the government.
Earlier women had to buy these items from the market costing four to five thousand rupees.
The District Health Officer said that the main objective of this scheme is to motivate more and more women to deliver in government hospitals so that maternal and child mortality can be reduced. Any eligible person can call 108 to visit the hospital. This helps in taking the pregnant to the hospital safely and in a safe delivery. 102 Ambulances are provided free of cost to drop home after delivery.
