New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to people on the occasions of Onam and Milad-un-Nabi, wishing for happiness, togetherness, prosperity and harmony across the country. In a post shared on X, PM Modi wished people on Onam and said the vibrant festival was being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the world. “Wishing everyone a beautiful Onam. This is a vibrant festival celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the world. May this festival further empower the spirit of happiness, togetherness, and prosperity. Have a wonderful Onam. This is a vibrant festival that is being marked all over the world with immense fervour. May it further the spirit of happiness, togetherness and prosperity,” he said.

In another post, the Prime Minister extended greetings on Milad-un-Nabi and wished for greater togetherness and joy.
“Eid Mubarak! Greetings on Milad-un-Nabi. I hope this occasion furthers togetherness and joy all around us. May the spirit of kindness and giving back to society always guide us,” PM Modi said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his greetings on Onam and wished peace, prosperity and well-being for the people of Keralam. “Greetings to our sisters and brothers of Keralam on the auspicious occasion of Onam. May this joyous occasion usher in a year filled with peace, prosperity and well-being for all,” Shah said. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended greetings on both occasions, describing Onam as a celebration of Keralam’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.”Warm greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Onam. Onam is a celebration of Keralam’s rich cultural heritage and traditions. It brings people together in joy and celebration, fostering a spirit of unity, harmony and togetherness. It also reflects our gratitude towards Mother Nature. May this harvest festival bring immense joy, peace and prosperity to everyone,” Rajnath Singh said in a post on X.

Singh also greeted people on Milad-un-Nabi, saying, “Greetings on Milad-un-Nabi. May this occasion brings peace and prosperity to all. I hope that the spirit of harmony and compassion is further strengthened in our society. Eid Mubarak!”
Furthermore, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also extended greetings on Onam and wished peace, prosperity and happiness to people across the country. “Warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Onam. May this festival of abundance and togetherness bring peace, prosperity and happiness to every home. Wishing everyone in Delhi and across the country a joyous and blessed Onam,” she wrote on X.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal also wished people a happy and prosperous Onam, saying, “May this be a day and year filled with happiness, joy, abundance, and peace.”
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan also extended greetings on the harvest festival and prayed for a good harvest and prosperity for farmers.
“May our farmers be blessed with good harvests, and may the spirit of #Onam fill our lives with hope, joy and harmony,” Chouhan said on X, extending his wishes to farmers and fellow citizens.
“Heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all our farmer brothers and sisters, the providers of food, and to all fellow citizens on the sacred festival of Onam, brimming with prosperity, harmony, and cultural exuberance! May the grace of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu and King Mahabali continuously shower upon everyone. May every field forever bloom with crops, may every home and courtyard be filled with blessed grains and abundance, may there be boundless happiness, prosperity, and joy in everyone’s life–this is our prayer,” he added.

Chouhan also wished Eid Milad-un-Nabi! saying, “Heartfelt congratulations on Eid Milad-un-Nabi! May this festival bring happiness, peace, prosperity, and joy into your life. Best wishes!” Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu had on Tuesday extended her greetings and best wishes to citizens on the eve of Onam and Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi. In her message on Onam, President Murmu said the festival celebrates the rich culture and spirit of brotherhood and promotes “unity in diversity”. She noted that boat races, folk dances, music and sports are among the important traditions associated with the festival. The President also said Onam is an occasion to express gratitude to nature on the arrival of the new harvest and prayed that the festival brings happiness, peace, good health and prosperity to all. On Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, President Murmu said the occasion provides an opportunity to recall the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and hoped that his noble ideals would inspire people to contribute towards building an inclusive and developed India.
Onam is a ten-day harvest festival celebrated primarily in Keralam and marks the annual homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali. The festival culminates with Thiruvonam, the tenth and most auspicious day, which is being observed on Wednesday. People celebrate Onam by wearing new clothes, creating floral decorations known as Pookkalam and preparing the traditional vegetarian feast, Onasadya, served on a banana leaf.
Milad-un-Nabi is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.
