5 Pilgrims from Faridkot Killed in Pehowa Road Accident

Faridkot/Kaithal, August 26, 2025 – In a tragic incident, five pilgrims from Rameana village in Faridkot district lost their lives when a Haryana Roadways bus collided head-on with a pickup vehicle near Kyodak village on Pehowa road in Kaithal on Monday morning.
The mishap occurred around 8 am, when the pickup, carrying seven devotees, was on its way to a gurdwara in Pehowa to attend a religious congregation marking the death anniversaries of Baba Dalip Singh, Baba Jeevan Singh and Baba Jangir Singh.
✅ Casualties and Injured
Four devotees died on the spot, while one succumbed later during treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Ninder Singh Sodhi (62), Baba Makhan Singh, Kaku Singh Khalsa, Kika Singh Gill, and Tara Singh.
The pickup driver and two other passengers sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Accident Details
According to reports, the group had reached Kaithal on Sunday evening and stayed overnight at Manji Sahib Gurdwara near Committee Chowk. They resumed their journey early Monday when the accident took place.
Preliminary investigation suggests negligent driving by the bus driver as the cause of the accident. Authorities have initiated further inquiry into the mishap.
This tragic accident has cast a pall of gloom over Rameana village, as residents mourn the loss of community members who had set out on a religious pilgrimage.
